According to Idman.Biz, based on the results of seven rounds, Turan Davudov, who is in fifth place with 5 points, demonstrates the best performance among Azerbaijani representatives.
In the seventh round, Davudov drew with another Azerbaijani chess player, Shiroglan Talibov. In the next - penultimate - round, he will face Pranav Anand, the namesake of the 15th world champion Viswanathan Anand.
It should be noted that Davudov started the tournament as the 43rd seed according to his rating. Currently, the 17-year-old chess player has increased his rating by 48 points, and if he does not suffer a defeat in the remaining two rounds, he can further improve this indicator.
Khagan Ahmad and Nijat Abbasov are also in the top ten of the tournament. Both chess players scored 5 points and are in ninth and tenth places, respectively. In the seventh round, Ahmad lost to Iranian Sina Movahed and will face former FIDE world champion Ruslan Ponomaryov (Ukraine) in the eighth round. Nijat Abbasov won over his compatriot Suleyman Suleymanov. His next opponent will be David Kaufman (FIDE).
