The "Bucharest Grand Prix 2026" rapid tournament was held in Romania. Sport24.az reports that Azerbaijan was represented by Rauf Mammadov and Aydın Suleymanli at the tournament, which was attended by 27 countries.
Mexican chess player Jose Martinez Alcantara and our compatriot Aydın Suleymanli, who scored 8.5 points each, shared 1st-2nd place in the end.
Aydın Suleymanli, a member of the Azerbaijan national team, finished the tournament in 2nd place according to additional indicators.
Our other chess player, Rauf Mammadov, took 7th place with 8 points.
It should be noted that 581 chess players competed in the Grand Prix.
