Azerbaijani karate fighter Huseyn Mammadli lost in the final of the "Karate-1" A Series tournament held in Salzburg, Austria, due to a momentary wrong decision.
Idman.biz reports that the athlete himself said this in an interview with "Report".
The karate fighter called the result satisfactory: "As you know, the A Series tournament is held four times a year. This competition is important for adding points to the rating. I won a silver medal in the 67 kg weight category among adults. I advanced to the final by defeating athletes from Guatemala, Italy, England, France, Cyprus and Kazakhstan in the appropriate order. Unfortunately, I lost to my Italian opponent at this stage. I think I lost the fight due to a momentary wrong decision. Overall, I consider my result satisfactory. I am currently in good shape. Only a momentary wrong decision changed the result."
He talked about his upcoming plans: "The III CIS Games will be held in Azerbaijan. We will have a training camp before this competition. We will undergo high-level training. I hope that at the III CIS Games I will raise the flag of Azerbaijan and ensure that our anthem is played. Then there will be the Islamic Solidarity Games. Afterwards, the qualifying competitions for the world championship will begin. A licensed competition for the world championship will be held in Paris, the capital of France, and I will also participate there. I hope to achieve high results. I express my deep gratitude to everyone who has put effort into us - the federation management and coaches."
