MMA fighter Conor McGregor has withdrawn his candidacy for the Irish presidency.
Idman.biz reports that the 37-year-old athlete called this step "the beginning of a political path."
McGregor said he made the decision after consulting with his family and carefully assessing the situation: "This is not an easy decision, but it is the right choice at the present time. I will not participate in the elections, but I will continue to serve my people."
It should be noted that he was previously found guilty of rape by a court and forced to pay a fine of $250,000.
