The Sumgayit basketball team was unable to bring back the legionnaires who performed well last season due to certain reasons.
Idman.biz reports that the head coach of the club, Vadim Kuramshin, made a statement to the press service about this.
He shared his thoughts on the team's preparation: "To be honest, we started the preparation stage a bit late. Even now, the team is not training with a full squad. In 2-3 days, another new transfer will join the training sessions. But in any case, our training sessions are going well now."
Kuramshin spoke about Sumgayit's goals for the new season: "Our goal is to take the first place and advance to the A League. I hope everything will be as we want. We want to play with the same determination as we made a good impression last season. We will fight with all our might for the name of our hometown Sumgayit. Although, for certain reasons, we could not bring back our legionnaires who played very well last season."
At the end, he called on the fans to support the team in the new season: "We are definitely waiting for Sumgayit fans at our games. They gave us very good support last season. Our basketball players became their favorites. I hope that the new squad will not be weaker than the previous season."
