Karabakh footballer Joni Montiel gave an interview to journalists after the first match of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, where they drew 0-0 with Bulgarian representative CSKA.

– What can you say about the game?
– It was a tough game as we expected. The opponent was a strong team. I think we played better in the second half. Everything will be decided in the return match.
– Did CSKA make a better impression than you expected? What are your expectations from the return match?
– Every team at this stage is strong. That's an indicator of this. The opponent had a good performance in their league and qualified for the Europa League. They are a strong team. Everything will be decided in the return match. A lot will depend on us as well.
– When you came on the pitch, the fans applauded you. Did you expect this?
– No. The fans' attitude towards me was unexpected. During my time here, they have shown me and my family a warm attitude. I am very happy here. I will do my best to help the team.
– You were included in the application at the last moment. Did you expect this?
– There were a lot of rumors during this period. They are not true. They especially emphasized discipline. Apparently, I was excluded from the team because I did not follow discipline. The spread of such rumors affects me and my family very badly. I have never had any problems with discipline in the clubs I have played for. We just need to respect the coach's decisions. There are many players in the team, and everyone is trying to prove themselves. The final decision is up to the coach.
– Do you think you can show your performance from last season?
– I am currently improving my physical condition. Because I got injured at the end of last season and had an operation. That's why I couldn't join the team from the beginning of the season. It's important to play constantly to be in good shape.
– New players have been transferred to the team. Are you worried about losing your place?
– The arrival of many players is good for the club. The increase in competition in the team is a good thing. Our job is to work hard in training and make the coach's job difficult. He needs to think about the team and make decisions.
