About two weeks ago, the technical director of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), Paolo Maldini, contacted Brazil's head coach Carlo Ancelotti. However, the 67-year-old coach refused the offer to coach the Italian national team.
Sport.Biz reports this with reference to Globo.
According to the source, the FIGC wanted to know Ancelotti's plans and the amount of the penalty for termination of the contract with the Brazilian national team. The coach thanked Maldini for contacting him, but stated that he had no intention of leaving the Brazilian national team.
The Italian coach has been leading the five-time world champions since May 2025. Two months ago, Ancelotti extended his contract with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) until 2030.
