Elmir Aliyev (55 kg) faced Russian Alibek Amirov in the final. Our wrestler took revenge on his opponent, to whom he lost in the semi-final of the U-23 European Championship - 3:2. Thus, Elmir became the world champion for the first time in his career.
The next victory came from Ruslan Nurullayev (72 kg). Our wrestler, who defeated Ukrainian Oleg Khalilov 3:1 in the consolation match, won against Armenian Gaspar Terteryan with the same score in the bronze medal match.
With 1 day left before the end of the Greco-Roman wrestling competition, our team set a new record in terms of the quality of medals. Thus, our national team won 2 gold medals at the U-23 World Championship for the first time.
