The U-17 European Wrestling Championship has concluded in Samokov, Bulgaria. According to Sport24.az, Azerbaijan added another gold medal to its tally on the final day of the competition.
Ibrahim Hasanov, competing in the 51 kg weight category, became the continental champion by defeating Turkish wrestler Muhammed Golhaya in the final. Tunar Hasanov, competing in the 45 kg category, defeated Turkish wrestler Buğra Eldemir in the bronze medal match, securing 3rd place. It is worth noting that our national team won a total of 13 medals at the European Championship.
Among them, three are gold, four are silver, and six are bronze. Our country was represented by 28 athletes at the prestigious competition: Under the leadership of head coach Rafig Huseynov, coaches Kamran Mammadov, Zohrab Abbasov, and Mushvig Mammadov, Ali Javadli (45 kg), Omar Salmanov (48 kg), Huseyn Mustafazade (51 kg), Gurban Majnunov (55 kg), Elmir Charkazov (60 kg), Orkhan Habibili (65 kg), Ali Mammadov (71 kg), Zaka Yusubov (80 kg), Zohrab Safarov (92 kg), and Muhammad Mustafayev (110 kg) competed.
Under the leadership of head coach Maria Stadnik and coach Solmaz Adilova, Gulkhani Shirinova (40 kg), Nuray Jafarli (46 kg), Khadija Gurbanzade (49 kg), Fatima Bayramova (53 kg), Maryam Amrali (57 kg), Fidan Babayeva (61 kg), Nuray Hasanli (65 kg), and Simura Abdullayeva (69 kg) performed. Under the leadership of Asgarhan Novruzov, coaches Vahid Mammadov, Yashar Aliyev, and Allahverdi Veliyev, Tunar Hasanov (45 kg), Huseyn Rzazade (48 kg), Ibrahim Hasanov (51 kg), Abbas Shafiyev (55 kg), Vahid Mammadov (60 kg), Rashid Nazarov (65 kg), Tunar Guliyev (71 kg), Nihad Suleymanli (80 kg), Elgun Karimli (92 kg), and Hakim Tagiyev (110 kg) stepped onto the mat. Justice at the European Championship was protected by I-class judges Habib Nurulu, Zaur Sharifov, and Eldar Bayramov.
