Four-time "Grand Slam" champion and world number one, Italian tennis player Yannik Sinner has spoken about his experience with the doping scandal.
According to İdman.biz, in an interview with L'Equipe, he talked about being wrongly accused and as a result, being out of the professional court for months.
"The months before the disqualification were particularly difficult because I couldn't talk to anyone about it. I looked very sad on the court and that was true. I didn't feel free. But I believe that nothing happens by chance. I am sure that all this made me stronger. I realized who my real friends were and that helped me. I wouldn't say it necessarily changed me, but it made me understand something.
It was a difficult episode. It was hard to get through it because I had to pay for a mistake I didn't make. One morning I woke up with the idea of turning it all into something positive. I spent time with my family and then went back to work, spending a lot of time in the gym. When I returned to the tournament in Rome, I was happy and relaxed. I just wanted to enjoy that moment and I did. I played great tennis after that," L'Equipe quoted Sinner.
