Azerbaijani judoka Hidayat Heydarov has reached the final of the European Championship held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.
İdman.Biz reports that the Olympic champion, competing in the 73 kg weight category, defeated Turkish Bilal Çiloğlu in the semi-final.
He previously defeated Konstantinos Tsaparas (Greece) in the 1/16 final, Dardan Chenan (Kosovo) in the 1/8 final, and Dayyan Boulemtafes (France) in the 1/4 final.
His opponent in the decisive round will be Georgian Lasha Shavdatuashvili.
It should be noted that two of the seven athletes who joined the competition the previous day - Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg) and Turan Bayramov (66 kg) won bronze medals.
The European Championship will end on April 19.
