An article has been published on the International Judo Federation (IJF) website stating that Azerbaijan will host the World Championships next year.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to the official website of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation that the article stated that Baku is preparing to host the World Cup, and the prestigious competition will be held on October 4–11.
It was noted that after the World Championships held this year in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, another major judo center - Baku will be in the spotlight: "Azerbaijan, known for training world-class athletes, will once again become the capital of world judo in 2026. Baku last hosted this competition in September 2018, and that tournament was remembered for its magnificent atmosphere and high-level performances."
The article also includes the opinions of IJF head Marius Vizer and President of the Azerbaijan Judo Federation Rashad Nabiyev.
In addition, the article emphasized that the attention and care shown by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to sports, especially the development of judo, plays a decisive role in this process: "The head of state's close knowledge of judokas in both adult and youth age groups and his deep knowledge of their results is a unique example from a leadership point of view and strengthens the sense of responsibility and motivation in the judo community.
