The World Junior Judo Championships started today in Lima, the capital of Peru. Sport24.az reports that six athletes of the Azerbaijani national team took to the tatami on the first day of the competition.
Nihad Mamishov and Farid Garayev (both - 60 kg), Mammad Musayev and Nizami Imranov (both - 66 kg), as well as Aydan Valiyeva and Khadija Gadashova (both - 52 kg) joined the competition.
Farid Garayev and Nizami Imranov won their first matches, while Khadija Gadashova lost to her opponent.
The tournament will last until October 7.
