Azerbaijani Olympic judo champions Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) and Zelim Kotsoiev (100 kg) have risen to the top three in the world rankings after their brilliant performance at the "Grand Prix" tournament held in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Idman.Biz reports that the International Judo Federation (IJF) has announced the updated world ranking of judokas based on the results of the competition.
It should be noted that Azerbaijani judokas won a total of nine medals - six gold and three bronze - at the competition in Guadalajara. The winners of the tournament were Balabay Aghayev (60 kg), Ruslan Pashayev (66 kg), Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg), Vusal Galandarli (81 kg), Zelim Kotsoiev (100 kg) and Ushangi Kokauri (+100 kg). Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg), Rashid Mammadaliyev (73 kg) and Murad Fatiyev (90 kg) won bronze medals.
In the 73 kg weight category, Hidayat Heydarov moved up three places and rose to third place in the world ranking with 4176 points. Shahram Akhadov (Uzbekistan, 4523 points) and Tatsuki Ishihara (Japan, 4500 points) occupy the first two places in this category. In the same weight category, Rashid Mammadaliyev moved up two places to take fifth place with 3917 points.
Our other Olympic champion, Zelim Kotsoiev (100 kg), also moved up three places and is currently in second place with 5118 points. The leader of the ranking is Matvey Kanikovskiy, representative of the International Judo Federation (IJF), with 5550 points.
In the 60 kg weight category, Balabay Aghayev moved up four places to take sixth place with 3356 points. In the same weight, Ahmad Yusifov moved up 14 places and settled in 12th place with 2360 points.
Ruslan Pashayev, who competed in the 66 kg category, moved up 11 places and rose to fourth place in the world ranking with 3171 points. In the 81 kg weight category, Zelim Tskayev moved up two places to third place with 4265 points, while Vusal Galandarli moved up more than 145 places with 812 points to 52nd place.
In the 90 kg weight category, Eljan Hajiyev (3651 points) retained his second place, while Murad Fatiyev (2546 points) moved up 13 places to take seventh place.
Among heavyweights, Ushangi Kokauri moved up 7 places with 3436 points and settled in seventh place in the world ranking.
