Vladimir Shulik, the head coach of the Azerbaijani national trampoline gymnastics team, hopes that they will win approximately four medals at the III CIS Games.
Idman.biz reports that the specialist made a statement to the official website of the competition.
He reminded that athletes born in 2009 and older will participate in the competition: "The preparation of the national team is already coming to an end, although the final composition is still being formed. Four athletes have been identified in the girls' category, and there are six candidates in the boys' category, four of whom will be included in the final team. The preparation is going according to plan, all the necessary conditions have been created for us."
According to the coach, the level of the upcoming competitions will be high: "Strong rivals from Russia and Belarus will come to Sheki, including a two-time Olympic champion. Gymnasts from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and a number of other countries have also confirmed their participation. The competitions will be held at the highest level. We also have our own leaders. In particular, Selcan Mahsudova will compete for a medal. We also have good chances in synchronized performances in both girls and boys. The tournament will be held in Azerbaijan, so we must do our best to achieve successful results. We hope to win approximately four medals."
Shulik noted that trampoline gymnastics is developing rapidly in Azerbaijan: "Trampoline gymnastics has been developing in our country for only about 12 years, but significant achievements have already been made. Thanks to the efforts of the Gymnastics Federation, a school was created almost from scratch, and as a result, for the first time, an Azerbaijani athlete qualified for the Olympic Games. This success created great interest in sports and significantly increased its recognition among young people. Previously, many did not even know what trampoline gymnastics was, but now interest in this sport is growing day by day. We are confident that our athletes will represent Azerbaijan with dignity at the III CIS Games."
It should be noted that the III CIS Games will be held from September 28 to October 8 this year in seven cities of Azerbaijan - Ganja, Yevlakh, Mingachevir, Gabala, Shaki, Goygol and Khankendi. The opening ceremony of the competition will take place on September 28, and the closing ceremony on October 8 at the Ganja city stadium.
