Tara Dragas is among the prize-winners of the European Rhythmic Gymnastics Cup held in Baku. The Italian gymnast won a bronze medal in the ribbon exercise and then advanced to the quarter-finals in the "Cross Battle" competition.
She shared her impressions of the competition held at the National Gymnastics Arena with Idman.Biz.
- Last year you won two silver medals at the European Cup held here, but this time you took third place. Are you satisfied with the result?
- First of all, I would like to say that I really enjoy performing in Baku. The arena and spectators here are magnificent. But this competition did not go as I expected. I didn't start the performance well, but on the second day I performed a little better and as a result I won a bronze medal with the ribbon. If I could have reached at least the semi-finals in the Cross Battle, the result could have been higher.
- You were performing at the World Cup in Baku last week. How was your preparation for the European Cup?
- We had the opportunity to stay here for two weeks. During this time, we trained a lot and saw good potential for the future.
- Do you have any specific plans before the World Championship?
- I think that, like every gymnast, my biggest dream is to perform at the Olympics. This is my main goal. I have no specific plans in other matters. My goal is to be better in every competition, in every program.
- If you had to choose one of your four compositions this season, which one do you like more?
- All four of these programs are very different from last year's and at the same time different from each other. Therefore, it is difficult to choose, because each one has its own style.
- So which one would you specifically mention?
- This year I like my ball exercise more because it's a lot of fun. I enjoy performing it. I really enjoy performing with the ball because it shows all sides of my character.
- How do you manage emotions during competition and how do you cope with stress?
I think this is one of my biggest problems: I think a lot during the competition and then I get nervous. I love to perform, so I'm not afraid to go on the carpet, but I still have to develop how to manage my emotions.
