Winning a medal at the World Cup stage amidst strong competition is a great reward for Azerbaijani fencer Palina Kaspiarovich.
The member of the saber team stated this in an interview with "Report".
The athlete shared her thoughts on winning a bronze medal at the tournament held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan:
"I am very happy. It was a difficult competition. There was serious competition. Winning a medal in the fight against strong rivals at this level is a great reward for me. There have been times when I was one step away from a medal at the World Cup many times. But I didn't give up and believed that it would work out. I thank the Azerbaijan Fencing Federation, our coaches, and my teammates for always believing in me".
P. Kaspiarovich also touched upon their 10th place in the team standings:
"We could have shown better results. The US team, which we lost to in the first match - the 1/8 finals, advanced to the final of the World Cup. It was a good experience for us in terms of testing our strength. We will do our best to take higher places in the next competitions."
It should be reminded that Palina Kaspiarovich, who finished the group stage with 5 wins, secured a bronze medal by advancing to the semi-finals. She lost to Bulgarian fencer Yoana Iliyeva with a score of 6:15 in the match for the final and finished third.
