Adalat Alakbarov, a member of the Azerbaijani national futsal team, dedicated the goal he scored against the Danish national team in yesterday's test match to his deceased father. Sport24.az reports that the player himself stated this in a statement to the press service of the Azerbaijan Futsal Federation.
He said that they were happy to win the match:
"We made many mistakes in the first game. We could not properly evaluate the episodes we created, and we left gaps for the opponent to stand out. The day after the game, the head coach showed us our mistakes, told us what we did wrong, and explained how we should play with video analysis again. Of course, it is impossible to change everything in a short time. But we avoided simple mistakes. In addition, the frustration and desire for revenge created by the defeat helped us to achieve victory. We were playing on our home field, our responsibility was doubled. True, our opponent is not one of the best futsal teams in Europe, but today every futsal team is developing rapidly. They beat Norway by a large score before us, and in an official meeting they defeated a strong and experienced team like Kazakhstan. This shows that there is no weak opponent, there is a weak approach to the game.
Of course, I am happy that I scored a goal. Although I have scored many times in the U-19 team, this was my first goal in the main national team. Firsts are always memorable and dear. I dedicate the goal I scored to my father, who passed away prematurely."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan-Denmark match ended with a 4:2 victory for our team.
