Neftchi's head coach, Yuri Vernidub, commented on the 2:1 victory over Sabah in the 32nd round of the Misli Premier League.
Idman.Biz reports that the Ukrainian specialist stated that they have fulfilled the task set before them.
"It's a great evening. We achieved the goal we set. When I came to the team, we were very far from fourth place, but there were 19 rounds ahead. The task was difficult. Nevertheless, I knew that if we played well, we would get our reward. I am a happy person today," said Vernidub.
The head coach also touched upon the changes in the team's game:
"I was constantly having individual conversations with the players. We fixed the discipline. We gave the players great loads. We are Neftchi and we had to play with number one in every match. We had to look like Sabah and Qarabag. The players believed in me, and I believed in them. This was very important. I thank all the staff and management of the club. The management always supported us. All of this was the main reason for our success."
Vernidub did not hide the possibility of changes in the squad at the end of the season:
"When I came to the team, I told everyone that they would stay until the end of the season. The decision will only be made after the season ends. Someone's contract is expiring, someone's is continuing. New blood will be needed. I don't want to stop in the first stage of the Conference League. I have worked in the group stage of the Champions League and the Europa League, and now I want to play in the main stage of the Conference League. We have a lot of work ahead of us."
