Turkey's potential opponents in the 2026 World Cup play-off stage have been determined

The Turkish national team finished the European zone E group of the 2026 World Cup in second place after a 2-2 draw against Spain in an away match and qualified for the play-off stage.

Idman.Biz reports that the Turkish national team secured their place in the play-offs with a 2-0 victory over Bulgaria in the 5th round of the group. After yesterday's matches, all the teams that will take part in the play-off stage have been determined.

How will the play-offs be held?
12 teams from the qualifying stage and 4 teams from the League of Nations will participate in the 2026 World Cup play-offs. In total, 16 teams will be divided into 4 pots. The 1st pot will face the 4th pot, and the 2nd pot will face the 3rd pot.

Game dates
The semi-final will be held on March 26, 2026. The final is scheduled for March 31, 2026.
Matches will be held over a single game. The team that wins the final will qualify for the World Cup. The teams in the 1st and 2nd pots will play their semi-final matches at home, and the home owner of the final will be determined after the draw.

Turkey will be in the 1st pot and will face one of the teams in the 4th pot.
1st pot: Turkey, Italy, Ukraine, Denmark
2nd pot: Wales, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia

4th pot: Romania, Sweden, Northern Ireland, North Macedonia

The play-off draw will be held on November 20 in Zurich, Switzerland.
