The best football player of the 2024/2025 season in the Azerbaijan Premier League has been determined.
Idman.biz reports that, as a result of the survey conducted by the Sports Research Center with the information support of the "Telegraf" agency, Leandro Andrade, the Portuguese midfielder of the "Qarabag" club, was awarded this title.
In the voting, 195 football players from the 10 participating teams who played in the Azerbaijan Premier League games this season, as well as 9 out of 10 head coaches, participated, with a total of 204 respondents.
59 of them voted for Leandro Andrade.
Salifu Suma, the Guinea-Bissau striker of "Zira", took the second place with 52 votes, and Rufat Abdullazade, the midfielder of the "Sabail" team, who left the Premier League, took the third place with 9 votes.
In the voting, 25 football players from "Qarabag", 24 from "Kapaz", 23 from "Sabah", 22 from "Sabail", 19 from "Neftchi", 17 each from "Zira", "Turan Tovuz" and "Sumgayit", 16 from "Araz-Nakhchivan", and 15 from "Shamakhi" made their choices. Among the head coaches, only Kurban Berdyev ("Turan Tovuz") stated that he had difficulty making a decision.
Respondents voted for a total of 40 football players.
Igor Ribeiro ("Araz-Nakhchivan") and Yassin Benzia ("Qarabag") received 8 votes each, Emin Mahmudov ("Neftchi"), Marko Jankovic ("Qarabag") and Ruan Renato ("Zira") received 5 votes each, Toral Bayramov ("Qarabag") 4, Nariman Akhundzade ("Qarabag"), Abdullah Zubir ("Qarabag") and Rza Jafarov ("Neftchi") 3 each, Cesse Sekidika ("Sabah"), Umarali Rakhmonaliyev ("Sabah"), Davit Volkov ("Zira"), Gismat Aliyev ("Zira"), Edgar Adilkhanov ("Shamakhi"), Rafael Maharramli ("Shamakhi"), Elvin Jafarguliyev ("Qarabag"), Kristian Avram ("Araz-Nakhchivan"), Rauf Huseynli ("Kapaz"), Agadadash Salyanski ("Neftchi"), Alirza Mushtabazade ("Sabail"), Faig Hajiyev ("Turan Tovuz"), received 2 votes each.
Magsad Isayev ("Zira"), Issa Djibrila ("Zira"), Ismayil Ibrahimli ("Zira"), Anar Nazirov ("Zira"), Aydin Bayramov ("Zira"), Joy-Lens Mickels ("Sabah"), Nijat Mehbaliyev ("Sabah"), Murad Khachayev ("Sumgayit"), Elvin Badalov ("Sumgayit"), Leroy Mickels ("Shamakhi"), Rufat Abbasov ("Shamakhi"), Rojerio Santos ("Kapaz"), Denis Marandici ("Turan Tovuz"), Mateus Silva ("Qarabag"), Huseynali Guliyev ("Sabail"), Urfan Abbasov ("Araz-Nakhchivan") received 1 vote each.
According to the rules, the respondents chose among the football players of the other 9 clubs, excluding their own teams.
It should be noted that the best football player of the season has been selected by the Sports Research Center since 2018. In previous seasons, Javid Imamverdiyev (2017/2018), Emin Mahmudov (2018/2019), Abdullah Zubir (2019/2020), Namik Alaskarov (2020/2021), Kadi Borges Malinovski (2021/2022) and Aleksey Kashchuk (2022/2023) were selected as the best. No voting was held in the 2023/2024 season.
