Prague's "Slavia" football club has apologized for a heavy defeat against "Pafos" in the UEFA Champions League and has promised to refund ticket money to fans who traveled to Cyprus for the game.
According to Idman.Biz, the statement was published on the Czech team's website.
The match took place on January 28 at the "Alfamega" stadium in Kolossi and ended with a 4-1 defeat for the visitors. Neither club was able to advance to the play-off stage of the tournament. "Slavia", for its part, did not win any of the eight matches in the main stage overall.
"Slavia" cannot perform like this, especially in the Champions League. We will refund the value of the tickets to all the fans who flew to Cyprus to support us," the club said.
For "Slavia", the match in Cyprus was no longer significant in the tournament. "Pafos" had a chance to reach the play-offs until the very end, but lost the pass to the Portuguese representative "Benfica" according to additional criteria.
