"Shamakhi" coach Elnur Chodarov has traveled to Spain. He is undergoing training at the "Betis" club as part of the PRO category coaching course. Vali Gasimov, who once played for "Betis", helped Chodarov get his internship at this club.
Idman.biz reports that Elnur Chodarov, who gave an interview to Sportal.az, shared his travel impressions.
He stated that he planned to gain experience in Spain because he was interested in Spanish football: "The 'Betis' option was suggested by Vali Gasimov, the head of our academy at the 'Shamakhi' club. There were a couple of other options, but after researching, 'Betis' seemed more suitable for me. Thank you, Vali muallim. My trip here was realized through him."
The requirements for the PRO category were a little different before. It was possible to complete the internship by getting acquainted with the working principles of both the main team and the academy in the same club. Now, however, they require you to do your practice in two different clubs - one in the main team and the other in the academy.
I have come to the "Betis" academy. Here I was greeted by the head of the academy, Miguel Calcado. On the day I arrived there, the "Betis" B team was playing a test match, preparing for the new season. It was a very interesting game. After the match, I had a detailed conversation with the head coach of the reserve team.
Then we went to the academy. There I met Tino Luis, the head of the Coaches Department. Tino first told me about the working principles with coaches. How they select coaches, how they develop them, etc. There are 70 coaches in the "Betis" academy, who are divided into 5 categories - head coach, assistant coach, analytical coach, physical training coach and goalkeeper coaches. A minimum of 3 coaches participate in each training session for small age groups, and 4-5 in the older groups.
What I see is that the Spaniards focus more on the individual development of children. They pay attention to everything - technical, tactical, physical, psychological, in a word. They are so sensitive to this issue that if there is any backwardness in a child's body for development, doctors work individually to ensure healthy development. Because there are body defects that can only be corrected up to a certain age, and then it is not possible. Therefore, doctors, physiotherapists, and coaches also conduct special studies with such children.
Video recordings are made of all training sessions of children's teams. Then the analysts make their notes and work on exactly what someone is missing. What is shown in theoretical lessons is already put as a requirement for the players in the games. It is explained in almost detail who should do what in the game, how to do it, etc.
In the end, they invited me to their internal meetings to explain the academy's work structure. There I saw how this structure works. I witnessed reports, assignments, and discussions of current issues."
