Azerbaijani fighter Rafael Fiziev's future opponent, former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira, spoke about the reasons for his defeat to Ilia Topuria at UFC 317. Sport24.az reports that the championship belt fight in June ended with a first-round knockout victory for the Georgian-born Spaniard.
"Sometimes we try to prove something that doesn't need to be proven. I prepared a lot of strikes, combinations, and shifts, I just wanted to show myself in the fight. I had a lot of faith in my knockout power, I waited for the perfect moment, but he got it faster. It was his night," Oliveira said.
The Brazilian athlete said that he should have moved more and lost by knockout for the first time in his career because he couldn't do it. He said that he still has many goals in the UFC and has returned to training.
It should be noted that the fight between Oliveira and Fiziev will take place on October 11 at the UFC tournament in Rio de Janeiro.
