Benfica club president Rui Costa has made important statements regarding the future of the team's head coach, Jose Mourinho. Sport24.az, citing Marca, reports that the club leader emphasized that the Portuguese specialist is still at the helm of Benfica:
"Until proven otherwise, Jose Mourinho is Benfica's head coach. He must make the decision regarding the extension of the contract himself. As for other matters, I will meet with the fans this week to evaluate the season."
Rui Costa also categorically denied the claims circulating in the press that Marco Silva is a candidate to replace Mourinho:
"They ask if Mourinho leaves, whether I am thinking about Marco Silva or another coach. Of course not."
