Panamanian defender of "Turan Tovuz" football club, Roderick Miller, spoke about how he came to Azerbaijan and the beginning of his career here.
Idman.Biz reports that the football player said about it in an interview with CBC Sport.
"My agent named Muhammad called me and said that there was a good offer in Azerbaijan. He asked if I wanted to go or not. I agreed. He brought me here and I came to Tovuz. I have been in the team ever since and I am very happy." At that time, the team was fighting to avoid relegation to the lower league. There were very difficult games until the end of the season. But we fought together and managed to keep the team in the Premier League," Miller said.
Miller also spoke about his relationship with the club's former and current head coaches and the goals of "Turan Tovuz".
"Our previous coach Aykhan Abbasov was a very good person and I hope that we will work together again in the future.
We joked once after he left the club. I scored two goals for "Shamakhi". He said, why did you do that? But this is football. Teams and coaches change.
I knew Gurban Berdyev from the beginning. His teams have played in the Champions League. They were strong teams. I worked with him for the first time at a training camp in Turkey. The system was a little different, but I adapted over time. He doesn't talk much, but he knows his job well.
If we get the opportunity to play in European Cups, we will do our best. Maybe the coaching staff will bring in new players and the team will strengthen where it needs to. We know that this tournament is very difficult. We may not have the highest quality right now. But if we move forward step by step, we can achieve the best result for the team," Miller said.
Miller has been playing for "Turan Tovuz" since 2022.
