Zira's head coach, Rashad Sadygov, shared his thoughts after the 2:1 victory over Sumgayit in the 32nd round of the Misli Premier League.
Idman.Biz reports that the experienced specialist thanked his players and stated that his team had one of their best games of the season.
"First of all, I thank my players. It was very difficult to focus on the game today because we had suffered a heavy defeat three days ago. Nevertheless, the players did their best on the field until the last minute. We had one of the best games of the season. The opponent's goalkeeper played great today," said Sadygov.
Answering a question about Sabah's starting lineup in the match against Neftchi, the head coach did not hide it:
"To be honest, I was a little disappointed when I saw Sabah's starting lineup. This is competition. We also want our opponents to lose points. I sincerely congratulate Neftchi. They showed determination on the field, especially towards the end of the championship, and deserved a place in the European cups."
Sadygov also touched upon his conversation with the fans:
"We weren't arguing, we were just talking. Zira doesn't have many fans, I recognize some of them by face. A question was asked about Eren. Maybe it was about his early substitution in the cup final. Both Issa and Eren were injured. Otherwise, who would want to take Eren off the field?"
The head coach also noted that the changes in the foreign player limit had a serious impact on the team:
"We have been second in four competitions in the last three years. This is a great result for Zira. The fans want more. Changing the foreign player limit created a serious problem for us. There were also injuries and player losses throughout the season. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if we were in 6th-7th place this season. But I thank our club, our community, and our fans for fighting to the end."
