No opponent can desire victory more than the Azerbaijan U-21 national team.
Idman.Biz reports that this was stated by the team's head coach Rashad Eyyubov.
The 33-year-old expert shared his thoughts before the game against the Portuguese national team in the qualifying round of the European Championship.
He stated that the players must be psychologically ready to win:
"Regardless of the opponent, whether it is Portugal or another team, we must enter every game with the desire to win. Our main goal is to prepare the players for the A national team. What is important is that they gain positive experience and are mentally ready for victories when moving to the next stage".
R.Eyyubov did not hide the fact that the team is facing certain difficulties.
The head coach stated that one of the main problems is that the players play in different leagues:
"Some players play in the Substitutes League, while others play in the First League and the Premier League. Therefore, it is not easy to bring their physical condition to the same level. Our biggest difficulty is precisely this. However, we are physically ready for the game".
He also spoke about tactical preparation:
"In a short time, we tried to convey to the players the maximum tactical information they needed. Now the main issue is mental preparation, and this depends on the players themselves".
Eyyubov added that he constantly advises the players to believe in themselves: "I tell them to set high goals and believe in them. It is not enough to just say this, you have to prove it in practice on the field".
