Liverpool's majority shareholder, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), has announced that it has reached an agreement to sell a minority stake in the club to 1892 Holdings, a consortium led by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and businessman Amit Bhatia.
Sport.Biz reports that the Reds have released a statement on the sale on their official website.
"By bringing together experts in strategic investment, global business, technology, and investment, we support the long-term growth ambitions of Liverpool Football Club.
The consortium partners will, along with FSG and the club's leadership, assess opportunities to achieve the club's goals both on and off the pitch. FSG will retain the majority of the shares in Liverpool Football Club and operational control", the statement reads.
