Azerbaijan national team striker Musa Gurbanli gave an interview to Sportal.az.
He shared his thoughts on AFFA appointing Aykhan Abbasov as the national team's head coach:
"I welcomed the appointment of Aykhan Abbasov as the national team's head coach. It's good for us that a local head coach is working in the national team. We also trust Aykhan muellim. He came in a short time, he had one day before the game with Ukraine. He prepared the team well. At least we were able to win a point. Having a local coach in the national team will also be beneficial for us, we will understand each other better. In any case, he knows us better individually. He is well aware of the talent and character of all of us. I also wish Aykhan muellim success. God willing, it will be successful for him and our nation. We trust our coach. We will try to achieve successful results."
The forward of our national team shared his expectations from the matches against France (October 10) and Ukraine (October 13) within the qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup: "You know the strength of the opponent yourself. I don't see the need to say anything. We will try to fight to the maximum and show determination. Especially in the match with France, it is necessary to show determination. We will fight for 90 minutes."
