The Romanian Football Federation has announced that it has parted ways with head coach Mircea Lucescu.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, the president of the Romanian Football Federation, Razvan Burleanu, thanked Lucescu in his statement, saying: "Mr. Mircea Lucescu accepted this call and did his best for Romania. His passion and dedication have earned him everyone's respect."
Burleanu also stated that it is planned for Lucescu to hold a different position within the federation. It was emphasized that the experienced coach's experience will continue to be used.
Romania lost 1-0 to Turkey in the semi-final of the European play-offs for the 2026 World Cup, losing the chance to participate in the tournament. This result also ended Lucescu's era.
