More than 13 billion dollars were spent on buying players from clubs.
A report published on the website of the International Football Federation (FIFA) shows that clubs spent a record $13.08 billion on player transfers last year.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, this is a 52.3 percent increase from the total amount of $8.59 billion in 2024. The previous record was recorded in 2023, when teams paid $9.6 billion for players. In total, 24,558 transfers were recorded, a 7.7 percent increase from the 22,794 record in 2024.
Liverpool signed a record deal in the British market by buying Alexander Isaac for $172 million (£125 million). This deal was the most expensive transfer of 2025. Liverpool also made transfers from Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz ($145 million) and Eintracht's Hugo Ekitike ($113 million). The top three clubs that spent the most money on players in 2025 were Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.
In men's football, most transfers were made from Brazilian clubs to Portuguese clubs (184), while in women's football, most transfers were made from Russian clubs to Belarusian clubs (36).
Growth was also observed in women's football, with 2,440 transfers (+6.3 percent) and total spending of $28.6 million, an increase of more than 80 percent compared to 2024.
