Barcelona defeated Newcastle United 2-1 in their first match of the Champions League main stage.
Idman.biz reports that this victory was the Catalan club's first away win in the most prestigious European club tournament in the last 20 years.
Barcelona had not won their first Champions League away game since the 2005/06 season. In that season, the Catalans defeated Werder 2-0 and reached the final. In the decisive match, Barcelona won the cup by defeating Arsenal 2-1.
It should be noted that the Champions League final will be held on May 30 next year at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.
