US President Donald Trump has commented on the Iranian national team's decision to boycott the World Cup, which will be held this summer in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Sport24.az reports that the US President spoke about this in an interview with "Politico":
"Whether Iran plays in the 2026 World Cup or not doesn't matter to me at all. I think Iran is facing a serious defeat. They are in the final stages."
It should be noted that the president of the Iranian Football Federation, Mehdi Taj, announced the possibility of boycotting the 2026 World Cup after the US military operation against Iran. The Mundial will be held from June 11 to July 19 in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
