As reported, the Football Association of England has filed 74 charges against Chelsea related to payments to agents, intermediaries and third-party investments.
According to Idman.biz, the violations relate to the period when the club was owned by Roman Abramovich. However, despite the seriousness of the situation, the likelihood of the most severe punishment in the form of point deductions is low.
The "Blues" themselves contacted the Football Association, the Premier League and UEFA, reporting that incomplete financial information was submitted in 2012-2019. The club's new owner Todd Boehly and the "Clearlake Capital" fund have been actively cooperating with the investigation since 2022, which is considered a mitigating circumstance.
Experts note that in such cases, it is taken into account whether the violation has turned into a sports advantage. Financial advisor Stefan Borson emphasized that active cooperation and admitting guilt can reduce sanctions by 30-40%.
Earlier, Nottingham Forest and Everton were punished with point deductions for financial violations. Chelsea must officially respond to the allegations by September 19.
