Until the beginning of July, Arsenal seemed like silent observers in the lively Premier League transfer market. But in a few days, everything changed.
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, the Londoners have not only become active, but are also preparing one of the most ambitious transfer plans in their recent history.
The club has already signed contracts with two players and is close to three more major deals, not only in terms of squad depth, but also in terms of potential team leaders.
First, Arsenal filled the second goalkeeper position by buying Kepa Arrisabalaga from Chelsea for 6 million euros – the Spaniard, by the way, showed himself well on loan at Bournemouth. Then the club quickly agreed on the transfer of Kristian Nergo from Brentford for 12-15 million euros. He will replace both Thomas Partey and Jorginho – both of whom left as free agents.
So far, the biggest sensational official signing has been Martin Subimendi for 65 million euros. He had wanted to sign for Arsenal since winter and the deal has finally been concluded. However, unlike Partey's destructive style, Subimendi is more of a deep playmaker. This will most likely push Declan Rice into the holding position.
But that's not all. Arsenal are preparing a surprise move for Noni Madueke - the amount could reach 58 million euros, despite the presence of Saka and the young Nwaneri. Negotiations with Chelsea are difficult, as always between the two London clubs.
The main intrigue is Viktor Dokeres. He is the one Arteta has chosen as the new striker. The amount is between 70-80 million euros. The footballer already has a personal contract with Arsenal, but the details with Sporting have not yet been resolved. It is possible that this deal will raise the club's total transfer bill for the summer above 200 million euros.
The club is also monitoring the situation with Eberechi Eze (78 million euros), Rodrigo from Real Madrid (90 million euros) and young Valencia defender Kristian Moskeroy (30 million euros). Scouts are particularly active in watching Rodrigo during the Interclub World Cup - the transfer is possible if the Brazilian himself wants to leave.
There have also been losses. Thomas Partey left the club after his contract expired and a few days later found himself at the center of a criminal case - accused of rape and sexual assault. Arsenal quickly announced that the player was not part of the team.
Oleksandr Zinchenko's future remains in question - Milan's interest against the backdrop of losing his status as a key player could lead to his departure.
Another potentially painful topic is Ethan Nwaneri. The 18-year-old wonderkid is not yet ready to sign a new contract without a clear guarantee of playing time.
Arsenal hasn't just woken up. They are preparing for a real leap – lightning fast, expensive and risky.
