Former coach of the Azerbaijan national team, Arif Asadov, was invited to the "Legends Cup", which will be held in Russia, because he is a European and world champion.
Idman.biz reports that the specialist himself said this in an interview with "Report".
He said that he will participate in the tournament for the first time: "The tournament has become a tradition since 2009 and is held on September 20-21. This year, 6 teams consisting of legends from the world, Europe, Asia, Russia, Serbia and Turkey will participate in the competition. I will participate for the first time as part of the Asian legends. The team includes famous football players from the former post-Soviet countries of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Georgia. Our first game will be against the legends of Serbia, and then Russia. We will hold two meetings during the day. On the 21st, matches will be held depending on the results of the first day."
The former defender said that it is difficult to determine the favorite: "There are well-known football players in all teams. But it is difficult to say who the favorite is. Of course, we will see this during the competition. In fact, the Russian team has gathered younger football players. Older football players are in the world and European teams."
A. Asadov also spoke about his preparation for the competition: "We play football once a week. I have increased my mobility a little more these days. True, I have a bit of a problem with my knee, it hurts. But the main thing is to participate. I was invited to the competition because I was a European and world champion during the USSR."
It should be noted that the "Legends Cup", which will be attended by star veterans of Russian, European and world football, will start in Moscow on September 19.
