Arif Asadov, the former coach of the Azerbaijani national team, was invited to the "Legends Cup" to be held in Russia because he was a champion of Europe and the world.
The expert himself said this in an interview with "Report".
He said that he will participate in the tournament for the first time:
"The tournament has become a tradition since 2009 and is held on September 20-21. This year, 6 teams consisting of legends of the world, Europe, Asia, Russia, Serbia and Turkey will participate in the competition. I will participate in the Asian legends team for the first time. The team includes famous football players from the former post-Soviet countries of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Georgia. Our first game will be against Serbia, then against the legends of Russia. We will hold two meetings a day. On the 21st, matches will be held depending on the results of the first day."
The former defender said that it is difficult to determine the favorite:
"There are famous football players in all teams. But it is difficult to say who is the favorite. Of course, we will see this in the course of the competition. In fact, the Russian national team has gathered younger football players. The world and European national teams have older football players."
A. Asadov also spoke about his preparation for the competition:
"We play football once a week. These days I have increased my mobility a little. True, I have a slight problem in my knee, it hurts. But the main thing is to participate. I was invited to the competition because I was a European and world champion during the USSR era."
It should be noted that the "Legends Cup", in which star veterans of Russian, European and world football will participate, will start in Moscow on September 19.
