Real Madrid head coach Alvaro Arbeloa shared his thoughts after the 0-2 defeat to Barcelona in the 35th round of La Liga.
Idman.Biz reports that the specialist first congratulated the Catalan club on their championship. Arbeloa stated that he understands Real Madrid fans and that the team must learn a serious lesson from the season.
"I can't say much to the fans. I understand how sad and disappointed they are. The only thing we can do now is learn from what happened this season and work harder. Real Madrid always comes back strong despite setbacks," said Arbeloa.
He was dissatisfied with VAR's failure to intervene in the episode against Jude Bellingham. According to Arbeloa, the English footballer was clearly elbowed, but the decision was not changed.
The head coach also spoke cautiously about whether Kilian Mbappe will play in the remainder of the season. Arbeloa said that the French striker's condition will depend on the level of pain.
The specialist also emphasized that there is no need to renew the squad. In his opinion, Real Madrid has a strong team that can win many titles, but numerous injuries have affected the result this season.
Arbeloa also revealed that Deyn Hayes wanted to play, but could not appear on the field because he felt weak during warm-up exercises. He said that he will talk to the club about his future soon and the final decision will be announced at the end of May.
