Aleksey Isayev: Azerbaijan is my second homeland

Former "Qarabag" midfielder Aleksey Isayev talked about the history of his performance in the Azerbaijan national team.

Idman.biz reports that in an interview with "Championat", he said that he received an offer to play in the Azerbaijan national team after his first year in "Sumgayit."

The midfielder expressed his gratitude to those who gave him this chance: "To be honest, I had doubts. When I first came to the national team, I almost immediately returned. I was thinking about whether I needed it or not. I grew up in Siberia and dreamed of playing for the Russian national team. But I am grateful to those people for the chance they gave me. I never thought that I would go to another country's national team with so much enthusiasm. I am proud and happy to represent this country in the international arena and I always do my best for it."

The football player, who was born in Siberia, emphasized that he considers Azerbaijan his second homeland: "Many underestimate the Azerbaijan championship. The level of football here is very good. "Qarabag", "Neftchi", "Sabah", "Zira", Qurban Berdiyev's "Turan" are very good teams. There are high-level legionnaires and talented local children here. Therefore, I did not think about where it would be easier. I only had doubts about my childhood dream - playing in the Russian national team. I thought I had a chance to get there."

Aleksey Isayev is a graduate of Krasnoyarsk football, and in his professional career he also played for "Yenisey", "Zenit-2", "Sabah", in addition to "Qarabag".
