Liverpool forward Aleksandr Isak has revealed that he has not spoken to his former coach Eddie Howe since leaving Newcastle.
According to Idman.Biz, in an interview with ESPN, the 26-year-old footballer admitted that he prefers to leave the past behind and focus on the next stage of his career.
"I don't want to go back to that story. It won't benefit me or Newcastle. It's better to leave everything as it is," Isak said, commenting on the terms of his departure from the team.
The forward decided to move to Liverpool in the summer, accusing Newcastle's management of not fulfilling their promises. Last season, he became a key player for the team, scoring 23 goals and leading the club to the Champions League. However, before the start of the new season, he refused to train until the contract was completed.
Isak has faced difficulties since moving to Anfield: he has only scored one goal, which was against Southampton in the English League Cup. He has not played a full 90 minutes even once. Nevertheless, the Swede has been called up to the national team and says he is feeling better and better.
"I work hard, I try to improve my physical fitness. I'm sure that when the team gets better, I'll get better too. Liverpool has a great atmosphere and fans. I'm happy to be here," Isak emphasized.
Liverpool, led by Arne Slot, will play against Manchester United on October 19 to restore the winning streak after three consecutive defeats.
