"Although there are good football players in Nigeria, few of them can play at the level of the Azerbaijan Premier League. Recruiting people from other fields under the name of football player is just empty talk."
Sport24.az reports that this was stated by Adil Shukurov, the head coach of "Kapaz", in his statement to Telegraf.
The 48-year-old specialist spoke about bringing a group of football players from Nigeria for review, which caused the dissatisfaction of Ganja fans some time ago. Shukurov commented on the claims that they were brought to the camp at the initiative of Erkin Ibrahimov, the club's former advisor on sports issues: "Not only Erkin Ibrahimov, but other people related to football were also involved in this matter. Since it was a period of reviewing football players, we looked at them and informed the management. But we didn't like any player."
The head coach answered the question about the changes in the club's management: "This is not an issue for me to comment on, and I don't think it will affect the team's results in the next season. The squad is good, and the players are trying to fulfill the given tasks."
Shukurov also added that the mass departure of football players for other reasons is false information: "Simply, some football players' expectations exceeded our capabilities. They left the team because we could not meet their demands. There is no talk of having a problem with any football player and being sent away for that reason."
It should be noted that Erkin Ibrahimov, a member of the Board of Directors of "Kapaz" and advisor on sports issues, has officially resigned from his position these days. It is also claimed that Namig Gadirov, the chairman of the Board of Directors who came to the club in May, has also left the club.
