Moroccan national team and PSG defender Achraf Hakimi has spoken for the first time after the national team's performance at the Africa Cup.
Idman.Biz reports that in the final of the tournament, Morocco lost to Senegal 0:1 in extra time.
"After many difficult days trying to understand everything that has happened, it is important for me to speak from the heart. First of all, I want to thank His Majesty for the great work that has been done to bring this Africa Cup of Nations, which is undoubtedly the best so far, to our country. Thank you for your vision, your support and your unwavering love for football and Morocco. I thank our President Fauzi Lekja for your complete loyalty and for believing in us every step of the way.
It is impossible not to thank the Moroccan people. Thank you for participating in every game, for living every minute, every emotion. You were our 12th man, our strength when our legs were heavy and our hearts ached. We felt your support in Morocco and all over the world.
I would like to sincerely thank Walid Regragui and the entire staff, especially my teammates, for the work, dedication and great sacrifices we made together during this Africa Cup of Nations. These were 35 days of shared life, constant effort, discipline and unity. We were a team that showed the world that Morocco not only competes, but also inspires.
Today, this Moroccan national team has become a strong, respected and admirable team, reflecting a country that is moving forward with confidence and showing the world that it is among the great football powers.
Every training session, every match and every moment spent together embodied great values: respect, dedication, humility and great pride in representing the entire nation. We carried the name of Morocco with honor and inspired millions of people - both at home and beyond our borders - with hope.
This journey does not end here. What we have experienced lays a solid foundation for the future. With this spirit, this unity and this ambition, there is no limit to what this national team can achieve. The future is built on what we plant today," Hakimi wrote on his social media page.
