The matches of the 10th round of the individual European Chess Championship were held in Katowice, Poland. Sport24.az reports that, referring to the Azerbaijan Chess Federation, no winner was determined in the match between the leaders of the continental championship in the reporting round.
Azerbaijani chess player Nijat Abasov drew with Spaniard David Guijarro. Our other representative, Aydin Suleymanli, defeated Lithuanian Valeri Kazakouski with black pieces. The current national champion, Muhammad Muradli, defeated Latvian athlete Nikita Meshkovs with white pieces.
After 10 rounds, three Azerbaijani chess players are in the top five of the tournament table. Abasov and Suleymanli, who scored 8 points each, share the 1st-2nd places. Muradli, who has the same score, is in fifth place according to additional indicators.
It should be noted that in the final round to be held today, Aydin Suleymanli will compete against Muhammad Muradli with white pieces. Nijat Abasov will face Romanian representative Daniel Bogdan.
