Our grandmasters Aydın Suleymanli and Nijat Abasov continue to compete for the lead at the European Chess Championship held in Katowice, Poland. According to Sport24.az, after the 8th round, Suleymanli and Abasov share 2nd-10th places with 6.5 points each. According to additional indicators, they are in 4th and 6th places, respectively. The tournament table is headed by Spaniard David Guijarro with 7 points.
In the 8th round, Suleymanli drew with Georgian Nikoloz Kacharava and will face tournament leader David Guijarro in the next game.
Nijat Abasov won against Turkish representative Atilla Kum and will face Israeli Benny Eisenberg in the 9th round.
After an unsuccessful start, Mahammad Muradli is also progressing. He won against Czech Jiri Stocek in the 8th round and rose to 22nd place with 6 points. Riad Samadov is also in 36th place with 5.5 points.
