The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has released its world rating list as of May 1, 2026.
Idman.Biz reports that Azerbaijani grandmaster Aydın Süleymanlı has made significant progress in the updated list.
Thus, our chess player gained 12 rating points, bringing his total score to 2665, and climbed 15 places to 49th place in the world ranking. This result is the highest in his career. Suleymanli's rise is due to his successful performance at the individual European Championship held in Katowice, Poland. He won a bronze medal in that tournament without suffering a defeat.
Shahriyar Mammadyarov, who maintains his leadership among Azerbaijani chess players, increased his score by 2 points to 2717 in the reporting period, ranking 26th and moving up one position.
Other representatives include Teymur Rajabov (2689 points) in 39th place, Eltaj Safarli (2648 points) in 70th place, and Rauf Mammadov (2636 points) in 90th place.
