UFC boss Dana White has commented on the scandal that occurred at the press conference of the "UFC White House - Freedom 250" tournament.
İdman.Biz reports that the incident occurred between undefeated American heavyweight Josh Hokit and UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria. After Hokit insulted Alex Pereira, Topuria joined the argument and the tension ended with the intervention of security personnel.
"I don't want any of these kids getting hurt over some dumb shit that doesn't even make sense. Especially when it's guys that will never fight each other. This Hokit situation just seems like clowning to me. But the guy came out and won. An unranked fighter went against number five in the world and won," White said.
The UFC boss said that Ilia Topuria and Alex Pereira are usually calm athletes, but this time the situation unexpectedly escalated:
"Ilia and Alex are usually pretty quiet guys. Granted, Ilia can sometimes lose his cool. We weren't expecting this. They were all sitting side by side in the same row. When Sean O'Malley started backing away, I thought, are you kidding me? My only concern was that something wouldn't happen between Chimaev and Strickland at the weigh-in. But we'll be ready. That's our job."
