According to the "Report" correspondent dispatched to the tournament, 7 Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers will take to the mat today.
Farid Sadigli (55 kg) will face Russian Alibek Amirov in the final.
In the qualifying round, Aykhan Javadov (60 kg) will face Bulgarian Borislav Krasimirov Kirilov, and Elmin Aliyev (82 kg) will face Hungarian Szabolcs Istvan Sina.
In the consolation match, Ilkin Gurbanov (63 kg) will test Frenchman Lucas Lo Grasso.
In the 1/8 finals, Farid Khalilov (67 kg) will wrestle German Janis Heinzelbecker, Farahim Mustafayev (72 kg) will wrestle Bulgarian Dimitar Georgiev, and Ali Telman Guliyev (97 kg) will wrestle Croatian Tomislav Brkan.
It should be noted that Azerbaijani wrestlers have won a total of 11 medals so far at the U-23 European Championships. Ali Tsokayev (92 kg) and Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) became European champions. Jeyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg), Vasif Bagirov (57 kg), Sabuhi Amiraslanov (79 kg), Yusif Dursunov (125 kg), Gultakin Shirinova (55 kg) and Ruzanna Mammadova won silver medals, while Musa Agayev (65 kg), Ramik Heybatov (70 kg) and Zafar Aliyev (97 kg) won bronze medals.
