Rashid Babazade, an Azerbaijani freestyle wrestler (65 kg) who won a silver medal at the international competition held in Tirana, the capital of Albania, was hampered by a rib injury and inexperience in the final match.
The national team member, who won a silver award in "Muhamet Malo", recalled that he participated in the ranking tournament for the first time.
"I almost have no experience in competitions among adults. Nevertheless, I believed in myself. There were strong athletes in the competition. The strongest wrestlers in the world came to this tournament. There were well-known faces in the 65 kg. Vitali Orujov, an Azerbaijani wrestler representing the USA, was also competing in the group I was in. I beat him in the semi-final. My opponent in the final was very strong. Nevertheless, I believed in myself. But for certain reasons, I could not show my wrestling. A bruised rib and a bit of inexperience played a role," he said in a statement to report.az.
R.Babazade said that he wants to eliminate the mistakes he made in the final:
"I will work on these mistakes. I want to go to the European Championship as prepared as possible".
