A wrestling tournament called "Ani Cup" dedicated to the anniversary of the conquest of the city of Ani was held in Kars, Turkey.
İdman.biz reports that more than 150 athletes from 8 teams from Turkey, Azerbaijan and Iran competed in the competition.
Azerbaijan was represented at the tournament by the Nakhchivan national team consisting of 23 athletes under the leadership of head coach Faig Iskandarov. Coaches Orkhan Asgarov, Bary Aliyev, as well as referee Nihad Muradov also participated in the tournament.
Our wrestlers performed successfully in the tournament and managed to win a total of 31 medals. 14 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals were won in freestyle wrestling, and 3 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals were won in Greco-Roman wrestling.
In addition, first place was won in the team standings in both freestyle wrestling and Greco-Roman wrestling in the 12-13 age group.
